We believe every guest deserves an unforgettable stay, regardless of physical limitations. Our passion for hospitality drives us to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone, including those needing wheelchair-friendly accommodations in Cape Town, feels at home.
Located just a short 20-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport, our guest house is a true hidden gem in the heart of the Helderberg area. Surrounded by breathtaking beaches, lovely restaurants, golf courses, bustling shopping centers, tranquil nature reserves, and the Cape Town Winelands, there's no shortage of things to see and do.
Inside, our 8 uniquely styled guest rooms provide a warm retreat. One of these rooms is specially designed with wheelchair accessibility in mind.
One of the many highlights of Somerset View Guest House is our dedicated 1 For All room, specially designed to cater to guests needing wheelchair-friendly accommodations. This room is the result of a collaborative effort with Brandon Beack, a celebrated South African wheelchair racer and founder of the Walking with Brandon Foundation. Brandon’s invaluable input helped us create a space that is truly accessible, equipped with every amenity that a guest in a wheelchair might need.
The 1 For All room is thoughtfully designed for guests needing wheelchair-friendly accommodations with features like a wide shower that accommodates a wheelchair and a sturdy handle by the toilet for added support. Wide doorways and level entrances ensure easy access, while ample space within the room allows for manoeuvrability. Furniture in the room, including beds and tables, is positioned at appropriate heights for guest in wheelchairs to reach comfortably.
Bathroom facilities include roll-in showers with grab bars and accessible sinks and toilets equipped with grab bars.
Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond the 1 For All room. Asphalt paths surround the house, providing smooth, wheelchair-friendly access to all areas. A ramp connects the upper level of the facility to the pool area, ensuring that the entire premises can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their physical limitations.

When it came to ensuring that our wheelchair accessibility features were up to par, we turned to Brandon Beack. A highly talented wheelchair athlete, Brandon graciously agreed to visit our guest house and test the features and layout. His feedback was invaluable in fine-tuning our facilities to meet the highest standards of user-friendliness and comfort.
